National Cherry Blossom Festival
Begin the spring season by appreciating Japan’s gift to America: the cherry blossom trees in Washington, DC. Cherry blossom trees are a symbol of birth and renewal, which makes them a wonderful representation of the renewal of spring. The festival begins with an opening ceremony on March 26, from 5-6:30pm. The performers in the opening ceremony include Asako Tamura, a soprano opera singer; GAMARJOBAT, an energetic and entertaining performance duo; and the 6821 Quintet, a quintet specially arranged for the Cherry Blossom Festival and named after the miles of distance between Washington, DC and Tokyo, Japan. If you are more focused on the cherry blossoms themselves, be sure to rent a Limo Ride and drive through DC between March 18-23, when experts predict the blossoms will be at peak bloom.
DC Jazz Festival
Make your way to DC on Friday, June 16 for the DC Jazz Fest! The DC Jazz Fest involves several concurrent jazz musicians playing in different locations throughout the city over a span of several days in June. Events include: DC Jazz Fest at The Yards, DC Jazz Fest at The Hamilton Live, Jazz in the ‘Hoods, Jazz N’ Family Fun Days, CapitalBop DC Jazz Loft Series, EASTRIVER JazzFEST, and Sixth and I. Each different event embraces different styles of jazz, with several different bands playing over the span of several days. Passport DC
