Polymer Processing Aid masterbatch has been designed in such a way that it enhances the processing of polyolefins (for examples – LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE, etc) along with other benefits such as a reduction in die build-up, melt fracture, back pressure, and improve in gloss and output.
It consists of a consistently dispersed fluoropolymer-based additive in polyolefin carrier resin.
DOSAGE: 1-1.5% Polymer Processing Aid masterbatch is utilized depending on the polymer and machine condition.
The polymer containing antiblock, UV stabilizer, an inorganic pigment such as Tio2, slip, antistatic, Calcium stearate, Zinc Stearate, Zinc Oxide, may require a slightly higher dosage level of Polymer Processing Aid masterbatch.
Note: The user or customer must assure that all metal surfaces coming in connection with polymer are thoroughly washed so that they become properly coated/ covered with PPA.
Why You Should Use Polymer Processing Aid Masterbatch?
Many polyethylene coating goods, including garbage bags, packaging film, grocery bags, and sheeting, are designed using the blown film extrusion process.
A surface scratch called melt fracture can happen during LLDPE processing. Melt fracture creates roughness on the film surface, which gives the film a cheap appearance and, in the more severe cases, reduces film strength. LLDPE with lower MFI which are frequently used to improve film toughness tends to melt fracture than comparable resins with higher melt indices.
Processing Aid masterbatch defeats melt fracture and back pressure by migrating from the polyethylene melt and coating the metal of the die, where it operates as a lubricant to decrease apparent viscosity and shear strains in the melt. As a result, the essential power for processing is significantly reduced.
Advantages
- Reduces melt fracture (surface roughness and irregularities) which occur at unsteady flow conditions
- Reduces die to build-up and gel formation
- Increases output and bubble stability
- Improved gloss
- Processing temperature can be reduced and hence saving in power consumption
- Does not interfere with printing, painting, and sealing properties
- Does not impart any color/opacity in the final product
- No effect on the mechanical properties of the product
- Polymer Processing Aid masterbatch allows the processing of the resin of lower MFI that gives increased film strength.
- Faster cleaning of colors
- Can be used in food contact applications
